The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a NYS assistance program that issues electronic benefits that can be used like cash to purchase food. SNAP helps low-income working people, senior citizens, college students, persons with a disability and others in order to feed themselves and/or their families. Eligibility and benefit levels are based on household size, income and other factors. Information on how to apply for SNAP can be found on the following webpage: https://otda.ny.gov/programs/snap/
The only way to know if you are eligible for SNAP is to fill out an application.
